James Nyoro’s swearing in as Kiambu Governor postponed to an unknown date

Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro will not be sworn in as the Kiambu Governor.

According to the Judiciary, the swearing-in postponement was due to unavoidable circumstances and indicated that a new date will be shared in due course.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the statement reads.

It had earlier been indicated that Nyoro would be sworn in on Thursday at 8:00 AM following the Senate unanimous vote on Wednesday to remove Ferdinand Waititu from office via impeachment as Kiambu County Governor.

“High Court Judge John Onyiego will today Thursday, January 30, 2020, preside over the swearing-in ceremony of the new Kiambu Governor,” the statement reads.

As stipulated by the law, Nyoro is supposed to take over from the embattled Ferdinard Waititu whose impeachment was upheld by the Senate on Wednesday.
